The District lights up downtown with Living Windows and holiday lights

Store windows and downtown streets will be transformed in the coming weeks, as The District prepares for the holiday season.

Downtown Columbia will be lit up holiday lights starting at 6 p.m. Nov. 18.

“Living Windows” returns to The District from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 3. Shopkeepers will decorate their front windows and stage live holiday performances.

“It’s a great kick-off to the holiday season,” said Carrie Gartner, executive director for The District.

Businesses in the District can still participate in “Living Windows” by filling out an application. The deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 22.
